World War II (1939-1945)

Bernard W. Fleming was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 2, 1915. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1934. Before entering the military, he worked for General Electric.

On September 10, 1941, Bernard enlisted in the United States Army. He was a sergeant serving with the 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division. On May 21, 1945, Bernard was killed during the Battle of Okinawa. He is buried in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
