Carmen C. DeMaina, the son of Joseph and Mary DeMaina, was born in 1920. He participated in the track and cross country teams, the photography club, and received his high school diploma from Mont Pleasant High School in 1938. He worked for the General Electric Company after graduation.
In 1943, Carmen enlisted in the United States Army and attended Fort Stewart, Georgia, for his basic training. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 843rd Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. In January 1945, Carmen left for the front lines and served with his battalion in China, India, and Burma. While in Sichuan, China, on July 21, 1945, Carmen drowned; he was never found. He is remembered at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines.
