Carmine Renzo, the son of Cosimo and Maria (Patierno) Renzo, was born around 1897, in Dugeuta, Italy. He arrived in the United States on the Perugia on June 8, 1913. His final destination was Schenectady, where he settled on Davis Terrace.
On July 20, 1917, Carmine enlisted in the United States Army and attended training at Camp Syracuse in New York. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the Machine Gun Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment. On September 1, 1917, Carmine departed for foreign shores aboard the USS Pocahontas (SP-3044). Carmine passed away on July 23, 1918, from wounds sustained during combat in France. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
