Casper Peter Fernandez, the son of John and Ruarda Fernandez, was born in 1921 in Indiana. He worked for the Hershey Beverage Company and went to Mont Pleasant High School.
Casper enlisted in the United States Navy and held the rank of Seaman Second Class. On November 13, 1942, during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, Casper was on board the USS Juneau when it sank. In total, 687 men, including the five Sullivan brothers, were killed as a result of the boat sinking. Casper is remembered at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Philippines.
