Charles James Davis, the son of William and Elizabeth Davis, was born on November 26, 1888, in Shushan, Washington County, New York. By 1910, he had moved to Schenectady. Before joining the military, Charles worked for the General Electric Company.
On February 23,1918, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private and served with Company F, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division. On April 16, 1918, Charles was sent overseas aboard the Cedric. On October 3, 1918, Charles was killed during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
