Chester John Kowalski, the son of Joseph and Anna Kowalski, was born on November 22, 1923, in Schenectady, New York. Prior to enlisting in the military, he worked for the General Electric Company and graduated from Nott Terrace High School.
Chester enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October of 1942. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Battery O, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division. After a brief illness, Chester passed away on February 14, 1944, in the South Pacific. He is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
