Christian Guenther was born in Amsterdam, New York, on October 19, 1892. By 1900, he was living in Rotterdam Junction in Schenectady County. He was self-employed before joining the military.
On June 29, 1918, Christian enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with the 2nd Company, 7th Battalion. On October 18, 1918, Christian died of pneumonia in Liverpool, England, while on his way to France. He is buried in the Woestina Cemetery in Rotterdam Junction, New York.
