Edward S. Edmonds, the son of Gilbert and Margaret (Craig) Edmonds, was born on September 18, 1925, in Schenectady, New York. Prior to joining the military, he worked at the post office on Jay Street after graduating from St. Columba's High School.
On December 28, 1943, Edward enlisted in the United States Army and attended Camp Blanding in Florida for his basic training. He held the rank of Private and served with Company E, 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. On June 15, 1944, Edward was sent overseas, and on August 25, 1944, near Gouesnou, France, he was killed in action. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
