Ernest was born in Woodsville, Mississippi on December 26, 1893. Before joining the military, he worked for General Electric.
On April 27, 1918, Ernest joined in the United States Army. He was a Private in the 52nd Company of the 13th Battalion of the 151st Depot Brigade. Ernest died on September 30, 1918, of pneumonia. There is no information on his final resting place.
