Frederick Ferdinand Wohlstein Jr., the son of Frederick and Gladys (Dunne) Wohlstein, was born on July 3, 1921, in Schenectady, New York. After completing his education at Mont Pleasant High School, he enrolled in Albany State College for Teachers. Frederick was an employee of General Electric.
In September 1942, Frederick enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of Second Lieutenant and served with the 488th Bombardment Squadron, 340th Bomber Group, Medium. On a Mitchell B-25, Frederick served as a navigator bombardier. Frederick was killed above Avignon, France, on August 15, 1944. He was never found. He is remembered at the Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, New York.
