George Hawthorne Warner, the son of Ford and Anna (Hawthorne) Warner, was born on September 14, 1908, in Rotterdam, New York. His World War ll draft card states September 6, 1906, despite the birth index stating that he was born on September 14, 1908. George operated a cab for the Black and White Taxi Company.

On February 10, 1943, George enlisted in the United States Army and received his basic training at Camp Lee in Virginia. He was deployed overseas in August 1943 and saw action in Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. George held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 310th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division. George died in combat in Betzdorf, Germany, on April 7, 1945. He is buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Netherlands.
