Grant Hill Cutler, the son of William and Edith (Hill) Cutler, was born on November 3, 1893, in Saint Albans, Vermont. He was educated in Vermont public schools and also attended business college. Grant and his wife made their home in Schenectady while he was employed with the General Electric Company.
On November 21, 1917, Grant enlisted in the United States Army. He was trained at Camp Devens in Massachusetts. He was assigned to Company C, 303rd Ammunition Train, and held the rank of Private. On February 27, 1918, he was deployed overseas. Grant died on March 14, 1918, at Brest, France, of pneumonia. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, Vermont.
