Harold H. Turner, the son of John and Edith (Owen) Turner, was born on November 22, 1918, in Rotterdam, New York. Before joining the military, he attended Vocational High School and worked as a painter's assistant for his father.
On October 15, 1940, Harold enlisted in the United States Army. Before traveling overseas in March 1941, he underwent his training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and was stationed at Fort Ord, California. He was a Private First Class with Company E, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On July 8, 1944, Harold perished as a result of wounds sustained during the Battle of Saipan. He is buried in the Fisher Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
