Harold Joseph Premo, the son of Paul and Nellie Premo, was born on April 28, 1921, in Chasm Falls, New York. He was educated in Chasm Falls, Malone, and Westville, New York. Harold learned how to be a blacksmith from his father. He lived in Amsterdam, New York and was a blacksmith for the American Locomotive Company.
In April 1943, Harold enrolled in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne. Harold was shot while parachuting behind enemy lines on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
