Henry Axel Nikander, the son of Katherine Nikander, was born on August 13, 1914, in New York City. He lived in Minnesota before coming to Schenectady. He was employed by Ellis Hospital.
Henry enlisted in the US Army Corps of Engineers and had the rank of Private. He was killed in action in Italy on January 14, 1944. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
