World War II (1939-1945)

Henry Axel Nikander was born in New York City, New York, on August 13, 1914. By 1930, he was living with his family in the city of Schenectady. Before entering the military, he worked for Ellis Hospital.

In 1941, Henry enlisted in the US Army Corps of Engineers. The US WWII Hospital Admission Card Files say that Henry died from a causative agent on January 14, 1944, and that the injury was non-battle-related. He is buried in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

For the Fallen
