Henry Guy Pope Jr., the son of Henry and Hazel (Post) Pope, was born on June 27, 1925, in Schenectady, New York. In 1943, he received his diploma from Mont Pleasant High School. He belonged to the First English Lutheran Church.
In June 1943, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company A, 55th Armored Infantry Regiment, 11th Armored Infantry Division. On January 14, 1945, Henry was killed by a shell that went off during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in Park Cemetery, Scotia, NY.
