Henry Theodore Duch, the son of Joseph and Sadie (Kopinsiceinska) Duch, was born on September 1, 1915, in Schenectady, New York. Before enlisting in the military, he worked for General Electric and graduated from Nott Terrace High School.

In December 1943, Henry enlisted in the United States Army and attended Camp Blanding in Florida for his basic training. He had a rank of Private First Class and served with Company C, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division. On October 5, 1944, Henry was killed in combat in Holland. He is buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
