John Anthony Wright, the son of Alvah and Grace (Leonard) Wright, was born on January 3, 1921, in Schenectady, New York. He competed on the basketball and track teams while attending Nott Terrace High School, where he graduated in 1940.
On December 29, 1941, John enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of First Lieutenant and served with the 523rd Port Battalion. John was declared dead while missing on October 3, 1943. John is remembered at the Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, New York.
