World War II (1939-1945)

John A. Blaszczak was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 3, 1924. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in June 1942, he worked for General Electric. 

In February 1943, John enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. After completing basic training in Miami Beach, Florida, he was sent to an advanced aerial gunnery school in Texas. He was a staff sergeant serving with the 722nd Bombardment Squadron, 450th Bombardment Group. On March 11, 1944, John went missing while in combat over France. He is remembered at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
