John A. Blaszczak, the son of Adam and Pauline Blaszczak, was born on February 3, 1924, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Mont Pleasant High School and worked for General Electric after graduating. 

In February 1943, John enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He completed an advanced aerial gunnery school in Texas after completing his basic training in Miami Beach, Florida. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant and served with the 722nd Bombardment Squadron, 450th Bombardment Group. On March 11, 1944, John went missing while in combat over France. He is remembered at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
