John Hogan was 32 years old when he enlisted in the Union Army on December 10, 1861, and was mustered in on December 11, 1861. He served with the 91st New York Infantry, Company G, and held the rank of Private. John was killed in action on June 14, 1863, before Port Hudson, Louisiana. It is assumed that he is buried in the Port Hudson National Cemetery, Louisiana.
