John Joseph D'Ambrosio was born on November 14, 1911, in Schenectady, New York. He attended Nott Terrace High School, was prominent in bowling circles, and was employed in the welding department of the General Electric Company.
John enlisted in the United States Navy and held the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was part of the Seabees, which were the highest-paid group in the US Military due to all the skilled journeymen in their ranks. While stationed in North Africa on July 1, 1943, John was killed in a motor truck accident. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
