World War II (1939-1945)

John Joseph D'Ambrosio was born in Schenectady, New York, on November 14, 1911. He grew up in the city of Schenectady and attended Nott Terrace High School. He was an accomplished bowler, well-respected in the bowling community, and was also a well-known softball player. Before entering the military, he worked in the welding department at General Electric and was a barber in the city.

John enlisted in the United States Navy and was a member of the Seabees, which was the highest-paid group in the US military due to all the skilled journeymen in their ranks. While stationed in North Africa on July 11, 1943, he was killed in a motor truck accident. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
