John Joseph D'Ambrosio was born in Schenectady, New York, on November 14, 1911. He attended Nott Terrace High School. John was a skilled bowler and he was well-known in bowling circles. Before joining the Navy, he worked in General Electric's welding department.
John enlisted in the United States Navy and held the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was part of the Seabees, which were the highest-paid group in the US Military due to all the skilled journeymen in their ranks. While stationed in North Africa on July 1, 1943, John was killed in a motor truck accident. He is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
