Vietnam War (1955-1975)

John Joseph Gulliver was born in Albany County, New York, on November 25, 1947. John played Pop Warner football and Little League baseball for many years while he was growing up in Colonie, New York. Following his graduation from Colonie Central High School in 1965, he moved to Schenectady, New York, and lived there for a very brief time. Before entering the military, he worked for Mohawk Brush Company as a lab technician.

On February 7, 1967, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a private first class serving with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. On June 29, 1967, John was killed in action in the South Vietnamese province of Quang Nam. He is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park in Colonie, New York.

* John spent almost his entire life in Colonie, New York; that would certainly make him Albany County's Finest too!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
