World War II (1939-1945)

Joseph H. Moore was born in 1924. Before enlisting in the military, he graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in Albany, New York, and was working for the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York. His parents were living on Hamilton Street in the city of Schenectady at the time of Joseph's enlistment.

In April 1941, Joseph enlisted in the United Army Air Corps and within six months was accepted for aviation cadet training. On December 17, 1942, he earned the wings of a navigator at Hondos Field in Texas. He was a second lieutenant serving with the 381st Bomber Squadron, 310th Bomber Group, Medium. On March 14, 1944, Joseph went missing over the North Sea. He is remembered at the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial in Italy.
