Joseph John Kollar Jr., the son of Joseph and Mary (Hladik) Kollar, was born on April 8, 1915, in Schenectady, New York. Before enlisting in the military, he worked for General Electric.
On August 21, 1942, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his training at Keesler Field, Mississippi, Columbus Army Airfield, Mississippi, and Camp Howze, Texas. He held the rank of Private and served with the 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. On March 16, 1945, Joseph was killed in battle in Germany. He is buried in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
