Joseph Rogers Stevens was born in Ireland on August 10, 1894. On April 1, 1912, he arrived in the United States; his final destination was Schenectady. Before joining the military, Joseph worked at the Mohawk Golf Club.
On July 23, 1917, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army. He was a Private First Class in Company E, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On October 17, 1918, Joseph was killed in battle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
