Louis Peter Mach, the son of Ladislaw and Anna (Hisa) Mach, was born on June 7, 1920, in Schenectady, New York. He was an employee of General Electric.

In March 1943, Louis enlisted in the United States Army and held the rank of Private. On December 16, 1943, the train Louis was riding on crashed in Robeson County, North Carolina. He was returning home to be with his wife as she gave birth to their baby. Four days later, they had a son. Louis is buried in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, New York.
