World War II (1939-1945)

Louis Vincent Slowek was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 5, 1913. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Nott Terrace High School, and worked for General Electric in the industrial control department.

On February 1, 1944, Louis enlisted in the United States Army. Before being shipped overseas in December 1944, he trained in Alabama, North Carolina, Maryland, and California. He was a private serving with Battery C, 126th Field Artillery Battalion. On May 15, 1945, Louis was killed in combat during the Battle of Luzon. He is buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Rotterdam, New York.
