Lynn Riggs MacIntyre, the son of Rev. James and Gertrude MacIntyre, was born on December 7, 1897, in New York State. Lynn's mother was born in Schenectady but moved away after marrying. When her husband James died in 1909, she returned to Schenectady. Lynn attended public schools in Schenectady. Before joining the military, he was a student at Mount Hermon College Preparatory School in Boston. 

Lynn enlisted in the United States Army but was honorably discharged because his eyes were injured by the explosion of a gun. He afterwards joined the Canadian military. Lynn served as a Private with the 3rd Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Lynn was killed in combat in France on August 30, 1918. He is buried in the Valley Cemetery, France.
