Marlin Lynn Siegwalt, the son of Harold and Deloris (Hand) Siegwalt, was born on March 30, 1937, in Phelps, New York. He graduated from Newark High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1959. Marlin, his wife, and their two children made their home in Schenectady when he decided on a career in the United States Air Force.
On November 21, 1967, Captain Marlin of the United States Air Force began his tour of duty in Vietnam. On October 30, 1968, a sniper in Laos shot and killed him. He is buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
