Philip Nelson Bush was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, on December 21, 1894. Before moving to Schenectady County in 1915 to work for General Electric, Philip had attended the University of Pennsylvania.
The French Aviation Corps was where Philip served during World War l. On February 25, 1942, Philip was recalled to duty by the United States Army Air Corps. He held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served with the 9th Air Force. Philip died while stationed at Bolling Field, Washington, D.C., on October 28, 1942; his death was ruled accidental. He is buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
