Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Robert James Jamro was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 12, 1946. He grew up in the Town of Glenville in Schenectady County, New York, and graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School in 1964.

On December 29, 1965, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He completed his basic training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was a lance corporal serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On July 2, 1967, during Operation Buffalo, Robert’s company was caught in a trap; snipers were in the area, and enemy machine gun fire kept the company from moving in any direction; it turned into a day-long battle, and by the time help came, most of Company B was killed. Company B lost fifty three men including Robert. He is buried in Park Cemetery in Scotia, New York.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
