Robert James Jamro was born on March 12, 1946, in Schenectady New York. He graduated from Scotia Glenville High School in 1964.

On December 29, 1965, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was trained in Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He held the rank of Lance Corporal and served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On July 2, 1967, during Operation Buffalo, Robert’s company was caught in a trap; snipers were in the area, and enemy machine gun fire kept the company from moving in any direction; it turned into a day-long battle, and by the time help came, most of Company B was killed. Company B lost fifty three men including Robert. He is buried in Park Cemetery, Scotia, New York.
