World War II (1939-1945)

Robert Joseph Whalen was born in Schenectady, New York, on February 21, 1918. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1937, and worked for General Electric.

In 1941, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a corporal serving with the 4th Infantry Division. Robert died on February 16, 1945, while serving in Luxembourg. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
