Robert Nels Jorgensen, the son of Nels and Anna (McElroy) Jorgensen, was born on April 2, 1921, in Schenectady, New York. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and began working at the Watervliet Arsenal.
On July 10, 1944, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Corporal and was stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. On November 17, 1945, while home on furlough, Robert was killed in an automobile accident in Watervliet, New York. Robert is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York.
