Robert Nels Jorgensen was born in Schenectady, New York, on April 2, 1921. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, and after graduation began working at the Watervliet Arsenal.
On July 10, 1944, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He was a corporal and was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. On November 17, 1945, while home on furlough, Robert was killed in an automobile accident in Watervliet, New York. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
