Robert William Geier Jr., the son of Robert and Agnes (Lape) Geier, was born on October 15, 1925, in Schenectady, New York. He attended St. Columba's School and was an employee of the Pleasant Valley Packing Company. 

On December 11, 1943, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He received his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. Robert held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company I, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. On September 17, 1944, Robert was killed during the Battle of Peleliu. He is buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, New York.
