Rudolph Jack Wainwright Jr., the son of Rudolph and Bernice Wainwright, was born on June 21, 1932, in Scotia, New York. He graduated from Scotia Glenville High School in 1950.

In 1951, Rudolph enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry. On February 10, 1952, a Central Railroad train struck the troop truck Rudolph was riding in, killing him. This incident occurred close to Fort Drum, New York. He is buried in Park Cemetery, Scotia, New York.
