Rudolph Joseph Dopjera, the son of Alexander and Teresa Dopjera, was born on January 21, 1916, in Schenectady, New York. He was a big part of the art club at Mont Pleasant High School. After graduating, he began working for the General Electric.
On February 16, 1943, Rudolph enlisted in the United States Army. He held a rank of Private and was a paratrooper with the 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Rudolph was killed in the line of duty. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
