World War I (1914-1918)

Samuel Francis Smith Broxholm was born in Pittsford, Vermont, on October 13, 1893. When he enlisted in the army, he was living in the Town of Duanesburg in Schenectady County, New York. Samuel was employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad as a station agent. 

On May 25, 1918, Samuel enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Company L, 307th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division. On June 30, 1918, he was sent overseas aboard the US Army troopship USS Mercury. Samuel was killed in combat during the Meuse-Argonne offensive, on November 9, 1918. He is buried at the Schenevus Cemetery, Schenevus, New York.
