Stanley Arthur Best was born in Schenectady, New York, on October 30, 1914. Before entering the military, he worked as a crane operator for General Electric.
On June 4, 1943, Stanley enlisted in the United States Army. He underwent military training in Texas. He was a private serving with the 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division. Stanley went overseas in March 1944, and on July 3, 1944, was killed in combat in Italy. He is buried in the Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
