Thomas Patrick Gallagher, the son of Patrick and Mary Gallagher, was born on December 6, 1889, in Niskayuna, New York. Thomas worked as a bookkeeper at a brewery in 1910. He was living in New Jersey when he registered for the war.

Thomas enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Corporal and served with the 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division. On October 26, 1918, Robert was killed in battle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
