Thomas Renwick, the son of James and Mary Renwick, was born in 1896, in Dumfries, Scotland. By 1911, he was living in Schenectady. Before joining the service, he worked for General Electric in the turbine department and the American Locomotive Company.
On May 14, 1917, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army. On March 4, 1918, he was deployed overseas on ship # 22 after receiving his training at Fort Ethan Allen in Vermont. He held the rank of Sergeant and served with Battery E, 19th Field Artillery, 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 5th Division. Thomas died as a result of wounds sustained during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
