Walter Edward Lowicki was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on July 2, 1898. He and his family relocated to Schenectady.
On February 16, 1918, Walter enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, before departing on the USS Covington on April 9, 1918. He was a Private in Company M of the 6th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. On October 14, 1918, Walter was killed in combat during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in France at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial.
