Walter John Abramski was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on December 14, 1917. He relocated to Schenectady with his wife, who was born and raised in Schenectady, sometime after 1941. Prior to enlisting in the military, he worked as an apprentice carpenter.
In July 1941, Walter enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before being transferred overseas in November 1942. Walter held the rank of Sergeant and served with the 58th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. On December 19, 1944, Walter was killed during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Belgium.
