Wavel Alden Hart was born in Schenectady, New York, on October 2, 1899. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, and before joining the military, he worked at the United Cigar Company Shop on Jay Street.
On March 16, 1916, Wavel enlisted in the United States Army. He was a private serving with Company E, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. On October 17, 1918, Wavel was killed in battle during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He is buried in Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
