World War II (1939-1945)

William Edward Shedrick Jr. was born in Schenectady, New York, on June 1, 1914. He grew up in the city of Schenectady, graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1932, and attended the General Electric apprentice program.

William enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942. He participated in an African convoy, where an attack damaged the ship he was on, but he safely returned to the United States. William died on August 11, 1943, at the Mare Island Naval Base in California, from sepsis and heart failure caused by surgery for a kinked ureter. He is buried in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, New York.
