William Joseph Osborne was born in Schenectady, New York, on March 4, 1928. He was employed as a stock clerk before entering the military.

On November 5, 1943, William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a veteran of World War II; he had served in the Pacific. William was still active in the Marine Corps when the Korean War began. He was a corporal serving with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 18th Marines. William was stationed at the Scotia Naval Depot in Glenville, New York. While he was attending military training at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in Lakewood, New Jersey, he died in an automobile accident. He is buried in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, New York.
