William Winslow Wait, the son of Nelson and Antoinette (Jackson) Wait, was born on May 6, 1891, in Hudson Falls, New York. By 1900, he had moved to Schenectady. In June 1915, he received his bachelor's degree in science from Union College. He was an Alpha Delta Phi member.
On August 15, 1917, William enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with the Air Service. On May 9, 1918, William died in an airplane crash. He is buried in Brookwood American Cemetery and Memorial, England.
